HowTo
Want to use – no, to experience – BurgerMap?
Ground Rules:
- CONTRIBUTE. If every BurgerMapper contributes just a single burger joint, we’ll have…a lot of burger joints. You have to have a favorite spot. Help them out. Drop a pushpin, write a short review, give a rating, drop a link, save it, and go about your day.
- NO CHAINS. We don’t need BurgerMap to find a BK, McDonalds, or Sonic. This doesn’t mean that any place with more than one location is necessarily out – we don’t want to penalize our favorite burgistas for their success! Use your judgement. Rule of thumb: If there are more than 5 of them; if your meal comes in a cardboard carton or bag; if they have a corporate headquarters; if someone from another time zone has one in their backyard; DON’T SUBMIT IT.
- KEEP IT REAL. Not all burger reviews have to be broiling good. Sometimes a burger sucks. Say you were disappointed. Don’t get into drama with competing reviews. Comment, share your opinion, and move on.

Contribute:
Remember, BurgerMap is only as good as you make it! We rely entirely on the contributions of our users – your testimonials, your recollections of greasy fingers and dripping chins, etc.
But since Google Maps isn’t the most intuitive system (yet), here’s how you add a place to BurgerMap. We’re working on an applet to make this easier.
Important: these directions assume that your favorite burger joint isn’t yet on BurgerMap. If it is, then just leave a review as you normally would on Google, so everyone else can see it!
1. Log in to Google and go to the map.
2. Type the address (or name, or whatever you need to find it) of the burger joint into the address bar:
Step 3: After finding the location, click “Save To My Maps” in the Pop Up Menu.
Step 4: If you followed Step 2 correctly you should be able to select “BurgerMap” from a dropdown menu like so:
Step 5: Once you’ve done this, a yellow bar will pop up across the top that says “[NAME] was saved to BurgerMap. View map.” Click view map, and then find the name in the left hand column. Click it, and you’ll be able to edit the listing like so:
Step 6: Click OK. Congratulations, you’ve BurgerMapped!
